A tour of DRH Lindersvold
After introducing the team, it’s time to show you the school where we’ll be spending the next three months.
Most of our time is spent here at DRH Lindersvold, between classes and "building" activities. The facility is also where we sleep and eat.
I’ll introduce the school by dividing the description into zones:
Rooms and accommodation
Common areas
Practicality and organization
Dining hall and kitchen
Sports, music, and outdoor areas
Spaces near the school
Rooms and accommodation
We all live together in rooms located along two corridors. The rooms can be single, double, or triple. I share mine with Emma and Silvia! The room is cozy, bright, and spacious! The bathrooms are shared. There are 3 in our corridor and 2 in the second corridor. Each bathroom has a shower inside.
The two corridors converge into a main corridor, where the entrance door is located, allowing us to access our rooms more quickly. The actual main entrance of the building is located elsewhere.
Common Areas
Cafeteria: From the main corridor, you can access the cafeteria, a sort of "mini bar" with a coffee machine and a cozy space for breaks. It’s furnished with tables, chairs, armchairs, and a large screen, making it ideal for spending time together watching movies, playing board games, reading, or simply chatting.
Classrooms: Also from the main hallway, you reach two bright and well-equipped classrooms where we attend lessons or hold meetings.
Practicality and Organization
Laundry Room: in this room, we have two washing machines and two dryers, one for each corridor. For those who prefer not to use the dryer, there is a room dedicated to air-drying clothes, which was recently renovated during a "Building Day" by some team members.
Tools Room: this room is one of the most useful: here we find everything we might need, from cleaning materials to various everyday items. Each room has shared products, clothes, and bedding, perfect in case of need or for specific activities.
Dining hall and Kitchen
Crossing through the cafeteria, you reach the main entrance, which leads to the dining room and kitchen.
Dining Room: It is the place where we have our main meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Kitchen: Here, we take care of meal preparation together with the cook, as well as managing the dishwasher after meals. The dishes prepared follow four types of diets: the classic, vegetarian, vegan, and even a ketogenic diet.
From the kitchen, you can access the outside, where you'll find bins for recycling and an area for storing bicycles, which we can use to get around or take a ride in the surrounding area.
Sports, Music, and Outdoor Areas
Outside, there are:
Bonfire Area: located in the garden behind the school, it’s perfect for evenings with friends, filled with conversation and singing.
Sports Area: located in a building next to the main structure, but still part of the school, this large sports hall with a stage is ideal for sports activities and performances.
Inside, there are:
Music Room: located inside the main building, this room is equipped with a variety of musical instruments.
Ping Pong Room: inside the building, there is also a small room with a ping pong table where we can have fun during our free time.
Spaces Near the School
Nearby, although not entirely at our disposal, there are:
An area with animals (I’ll show you some in the pictures below!!).
A garden.
Lots of green space around.
How do we manage cleaning, cooking, and all the responsibilities with 23 (or more) people? I’ll tell you about it in the next article!
P.S.: We’re preparing a full video with a tour of the school! Once it’s ready, I’ll upload it here so you can see in detail all the spaces where we live.
